Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved within the community, and to impact the preparedness level of yourself and the community. We encourage all our residents to find an avenue to get involved and help prepare themselves and their neighbors.

Volunteer Program Mission

Our volunteer programs mission is to provide opportunities for citizens in San Patricio County to better prepare themselves, their families, their neighbors and their community for emergencies and disasters.

We employ the Citizen Corps model, which is a nationally recognized model for volunteerism in disasters.

The mission of Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds through:

  • Preparing the public for local risks with targeted outreach
  • Engaging voluntary organizations to help augment resources for public safety, preparedness and response capabilities
  • Integrating the whole community and integrates nontraditional resources to ensure disaster preparedness

Citizen Corps asks you to embrace the personal responsibility to be prepared; to get training in first aid and emergency skills; and to volunteer to support local emergency responders, disaster relief, and community safety.

Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)

The purpose and mission of the CERT Team is to aid and support the people of San Patricio County in preparing for, responding to, recovering from, or mitigating the effects of natural and man-made disasters.
