Project Information:

The County Channel Outfall Drainage Improvement Project will improve drainage in the Taft and Sinton areas. The project area is very susceptible to flooding due to the current channel’s inadequate capacity. The existing ditch sections are undersized for current runoff amounts, and several culvert crossings severely restrict the amount water able to pass through the ditch during heavy rain event.

The proposed project will deepen and widen the existing outfall channels and ditches, reconstruct bridges and trestles, and harden ditch sections that are at risk of erosion. The improvements will increase the areas ability to handle runoff from future rain events, and minimize public and private losses from flooding, as well as the need to rescue and recovery efforts.
