Below please find the New Cases Count in the last 14 days to help with questions relating to whether the County is eligible to opt-out of the Governor’s face covering order (GA-29). The County must go 14 days with 20 or fewer new COVID-19 cases before Judge Krebs can request an exemption from GA-29.
TDEM uses a rolling 14-day calendar. San Patricio County has received 53 new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days. The County had new case daily totals of 11, 9, and 12 during the last 14 days. That type of fluctuation would
seem to make it difficult for the County to stay compliant with the exemption requirements.
If the County is exempted from GA-29 but later exceeds the 20 new cases during a 14-day period, then the County would be required to comply with all aspects of GA-29. If after a 30 waiting period, the County once again has had fewer than 20 new COVID-19 cases (using a rolling 14-day calendar), Judge Krebs can reapply for the exemption.
