Judge Krebs Signed Disaster Declaration

This morning County Judge David R. Krebs signed a Declaration of State of Local Disaster as Tropical Storm Hanna became the first hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane season. San Patricio County is currently under a Hurricane Warning as Hanna slowly moves west at 7 mph. Hanna is 85 miles southeast of Corpus Christi and is expected to make landfall north of Port Mansfield later this afternoon as Category 1 hurricane.

San Patricio County residents in low lying areas subject to flooding must take immediate precautions to plan for such rainfall and flooding. Rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts possible up to 15 inches.

Area residents are asked to take necessary precautions to protect lives and secure property. All non-essential vehicle travel should be limited today until noon on Sunday due to possible flooding and Tropical Storm Force Winds. Wind impacts could include some structural damage to homes and unanchored mobile homes, downed trees and power lines.

Hanna is still expected to produce heavy rains across portions of San Patricio County. These rains could result in flash flooding and isolated minor to moderate creek and river flooding. A Storm Surge Warning and Hurricane Warning are in effect for Coastal San Patricio, Aransas Islands, Calhoun Islands, Coastal Aransas, Coastal Kleberg, Coastal Nueces, Coastal Refugio, Kleberg Islands, and Nueces Islands.
